You are bidding on a softcover book promoting the 1840-1940 centennial of New Zealand.
The 56 pages of this pictorial publication provide a history of this island country that will hopefully “serve in some small measure to show something of what has been accomplished” during the country’s first century and to “prove that the pioneers have indeed left behind them a rich legacy for the benefit of future New Zealanders.”
The book includes 93 black & white photographs and illustrations, some of which contrast early scenes with the present-day (1940) appearance.
Several historic events are illustrated with larger color drawings while two small color drawings show views of the main buildings at the Centennial Exhibition in Wellington.
This item was published by the New Zealand Government Department of Tourist and Publicity.
The covers show light soil; otherwise, the book is in excellent condition.
