Clevenger Brothers Clayton N.J. Batsto Sawmill #8 Bottle in Cobalt Blue 7" tall and 4 1/2" at WIDEST point
with heavy vertical ribbed sides.
Front side with Piggery Water Tower 1981 Batsto, N.J and the number 8.
Back side embossed with Batsto (NJ) Citizens Committee Iron Furnace 1766 Silver Anniversary.
C B Maker's mark is embossed on the bottom.
Free of chips or cracks ~ flaws/wear include light residue, a few flea bites and some straw marks.
Beginning in 1973 Clevenger Glass Works made a series of bottles & flasks for Batsto Village, a historical town located in the South New Jersey Pinelands. One per year was issued for 12 years. They are all hand blown & hand finished & tooled. Bottles 2 through 12 are numbered.
My father collected bottles hand blown in NJ, most often from Clevenger Brothers. Of particular interest were those related to Batsto. He bought many, some are auctioned here on eBay. After purchase he put these on a shelf until they were packed away in 1993. Hence, I am classifying these as new.
