Crawford is featured wearing a Travilla designed teal blue outfit with gold beading and a matching cape/wrap that was constructed for Flamingo Road but not used in the actual filming of the motion picture. She loved this costume so much she took it home and wore it a few times over the next three years to various social events.
The image was originally captured in color and then 8x10's were printed for the public in black and white. The colors used are historically correct for this photoshoot.
