Up for your consideration is a Powermatic 1150A Drill Press. This is a heavy duty ½ hp machine that has a variable speed control. It has a Powermatic adjustable work light attached and a breaker box. The on-off is controlled by push buttons. The depth control is easy to set and is intuitive.
The table can be raised and lowered and then tightened. It has a gauge on it for angular drilling. The Jacobs chuck has a key attached by a chain The base has slots in it for tightening down, though with its weight, I have never found this to be necessary. While this is an older machine, it is in very good condition. The belts are in good shape.
I am throwing in a Rockler drill press table, which sets atop the Powermatic cast iron table, and has built in jigs for it to be attached. This Rockler table has moveable fences and tee tracks, as well as a replaceable piece directly under the spot where the drill would penetrate.
This auction also includes for free two work-holding vises designed to be used with a drill press. I would keep these, but my wife says that I already have too many vices.
I have owned this drill press for about 14 years and have never had a problem with it. It has allowed me to precisely locate where the bit will drill into the wood, can be set to an accurate 90 degrees, and stopped at a particular depth. If you are countersinking, each screw hole will be exactly the same as the others, which makes for a very good looking piece.
