    Description

    Very rare 1946 posted real photo postcard showing "Shelter Harbor Beach, Westerly, R. I.". Shelter Harbor is a community in Westerly, RI which is just east of the community of Weekapaug. At this time, the beach shown in the postcard is shared by Weekapaug and Shelter Harbor residents only. The postcard was mailed in 1946 but seems to have been created much earlier since it has an undivided back (1901-1907). Someone might have manufactured the card in the early 1900s and brought it home as a souvenir. Then someone else found it and used it. This is all conjecture on my part and not positive fact.
